Asees Kaur says ‘Russ Jana’ explores tender and vulnerable side of love

Playback singer Asees Kaur, known for songs such as ‘Raataan Lambiyan’, ‘Bolna’, ‘Chogada’, ‘Ve Kamleya’ and ‘Akh Lad Jaave’, says her latest independent track ‘Russ Jana’ explores the tender and vulnerable side of love.

The song has been composed by Shekhar Ravjiani, written by Priya Saraiya and sung by Asees Kaur. The collaboration brings together three artists with extensive experience and notable contributions to the Indian music industry.

Speaking about the song, Asees said, “‘Russ Jana’ explores a very tender and vulnerable side of love. It was special to collaborate with Mr Shekhar Ravjiani for the first time, and Priya’s words gave me such a beautiful emotional space to sing from. I think there is an honesty to this song that listeners will really connect with.”

With ‘Russ Jana’, the three artists have come together outside the world of cinema for a musical exploration of love, longing and the emotions that remain when a relationship changes.

Shekhar Ravjiani said the song holds a special place for him and was composed a few years ago for his independent record label, Garuudaa Musiic.

“Russ Jana is a very special song which I composed a few years ago for my independent record label Garuudaa Musiic. Priya and I are very proud this song. The song chose Asees to sing it and what a brilliant decision that was!” he said.

Priya Saraiya said the song originated from a vulnerable emotional space and was intended to capture the feelings that remain when the course of love changes.

“‘Russ Jana’ comes from a very vulnerable place. I wanted the lyrics to capture those feelings that remain when love changes its course, and working with Mr Shekhar Ravjiani and Asees brought that emotion to life beautifully,” she said.

‘Russ Jana’ has been released under the Garuudaa Musiic label and is available for streaming across music platforms.
