Bhubaneswar: The Centre has appointed senior Odisha cadre IPS officer Amitendra Nath Sinha as Inspector General (IG) in the Border Security Force (BSF).
A 2002-batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre, Sinha is currently serving as Inspector General in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
According to a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Sinha will continue to hold the position from the time he assumes duty until July 10, 2028 or until such time as the government issues additional orders.
Sinha has been on a five-year central deputation with effect from July 11, 2023. His appointment has been made on a lateral shift basis. The BSF posting is a continuation of his existing five-year combined central tenure.
Before moving to the Centre, Sinha held several important assignments in the Odish Police. He served as Inspector General, CID-Crime Branch, in Odisha Police.
