Actress Zoya Hussain has opened up about working with veteran actor Raghubir Yadav in the upcoming streaming series ‘Hunkkaar: The Roar’, describing his ability to shift between his intense on-screen character and his naturally playful persona as one of the memorable aspects of the experience.
In the series, Zoya and Raghubir’s characters share a complicated relationship shaped by fear, emotional distance and a need for validation. However, Zoya said maintaining that distance while working alongside an actor she deeply admired was challenging.
“He’s nothing like his character. Watching him go in and out of it, returning to his natural childlike state was quite a treat to observe. What was difficult was to maintain the emotional distance our characters are supposed to have, this weird mix of fear and need for validation she feels,” Zoya said.
The actress also spoke warmly about Raghubir’s personality and his extensive experience in the industry.
“Raghubir Ji, one always wants to chat with and hear stories from, he’s had such a grand journey and is interested in so many things, you want to know more and more,” she added.
‘Hunkkaar: The Roar’ is set in a world shaped by power, faith and influence. The series follows 17-year-old Meenu Rawat’s accusation against a powerful spiritual figure and examines how the case unfolds across the police, legal and media systems.
The story also explores the relationships, loyalties and motivations of people operating within the spiritual leader known as Baapji’s sphere of influence.
‘Hunkkaar: The Roar’ will begin streaming on JioHotstar from September 25, 2026.
