Miley Cyrus is preparing to release her 10th studio album, “Bass Persuades,” a project she says has developed alongside the changing circumstances of her life. The Grammy-winning singer has described the experience as particularly meaningful because the music has continued to evolve almost as quickly as she has.
Cyrus recently gave fans a preview of the project on Instagram, posting a glimpse from the album’s monochrome music video. Alongside the video, she thanked the musicians, collaborators and other people involved in bringing the record together.
Album arrives September 18
Cyrus announced on September 2 that “Bass Persuades” would be released on September 18. The announcement was accompanied by a black-and-white photograph showing the singer looking directly at the camera with a rose held between her lips.
In her announcement, Cyrus reflected on what music represents to her and explained the meaning she attaches to the album’s title. She described music as something people experience in different ways, from singing and dancing to simply carrying it with them through different stages of life.
The singer also expressed her gratitude to listeners for supporting her career and said she hoped audiences would connect with the new record.
New video set for release
Cyrus has also confirmed a music video connected to the album. In her latest Instagram post, she announced that the video would arrive on September 17 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time, ahead of the album’s official release the following day.
She said the record was started less than a year before its release, making the relatively short creative period an important part of the project’s story. According to Cyrus, watching the album remain closely connected to the pace of her life has made the experience feel especially personal.
From child star to global pop singer
Cyrus first became widely known as a child performer before gaining international recognition as a teenager through Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana.” The television series established her as a major young star and also provided an early platform for her music career.
Her transition into mainstream recording success followed with projects including “Meet Miley Cyrus” and “Breakout,” both of which helped establish her presence in pop music. Her song “Party in the U.S.A.” later became one of her most recognizable commercial hits.
A career shaped by changing sounds
Throughout her career, Cyrus has repeatedly moved between musical styles. Her 2013 album “Bangerz” marked a significant shift toward trap-pop and R&B influences and produced the songs “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball.” The latter became her first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her later work continued to explore different sounds. “Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz” incorporated psychedelic influences, while “Younger Now” leaned toward country and pop-rock elements. With “Plastic Hearts,” she turned more strongly toward rock, highlighting the broad range that has characterized her recording career.
With “Bass Persuades,” Cyrus is entering another chapter of that musical journey. The album’s release will give listeners the opportunity to hear how her latest creative direction reflects the period in which it was made.
