Playing M S Subbulakshmi Amma Is the Greatest Honor: Rashmika

The prestigious pan-India biopic on Bharat Ratna M.S. Subbulakshmi was grandly launched at Chennai’s iconic Music Academy on the occasion of the legendary singer’s 110th birth anniversary.

The film is produced by Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh and Bunny Vas, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan officially launched the project and gave the ceremonial clap for Rashmika Mandanna’s first shot as M.S. Subbulakshmi.

Rashmika, who will portray the legendary Carnatic music icon on screen, addressed the gathering and expressed her gratitude for being chosen for such a significant role.

She described the opportunity as one of the most special moments of her acting journey.

“My heart is filled with gratitude for receiving this incredible opportunity as an actress. On the occasion of M.S. Subbulakshmi Amma’s 110th birth anniversary, I offer my heartfelt wishes and respects. Standing on this stage feels like standing in the presence of the divine,” Rashmika said.

She added, “I feel immensely proud and honoured to become a small part of M.S. Amma’s extraordinary life journey. We truly believe her blessings will always be with us throughout this film.”

Rashmika also promised to give her complete dedication to the role.

“I will do everything I can to portray M.S. Subbulakshmi Amma in a way that all of you will cherish and appreciate,” she said.
