Actress Shagun Sharma is set to headline Colors TV’s upcoming fiction show ‘Queen’, a project she says has given her an opportunity to explore a character and a world unlike those she has portrayed previously.
Talking about the show, Shagun said playing the lead role is a special opportunity, particularly because of the complexity of her character, Neeti.
“Stepping into ‘Queen’ as the lead is a very special opportunity for me because it allows me to explore a character and a world that is very different from what I have done before,” she said.
Describing Neeti, the actress said the character is ambitious and layered, with several shades that made the role an enriching experience.
“Neeti is layered and ambitious and has so many shades to her, and discovering those different facets has been an incredible experience,” Shagun said.
She added that returning to fiction after appearing on the reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 15’ feels like an important new phase in her career.
“After exploring reality with ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, coming back to fiction in such an important role feels like a new chapter in my journey. I’m really looking forward to seeing how audiences respond to Neeti and to everything ‘Queen’ has in store,” she said.
‘Queen’ revolves around ambition, power and the journey of its central character, Neeti, with Shagun taking on the lead role.
Shagun is known for playing Paridhi “Pari” Virani in ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2’. She was also among the contestants on the current season of the stunt-based reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 15’.
The actress has previously played the lead role of Kashvi Bajwa in ‘Yeh Hai Chahatein’, opposite Pravisht Mishra, and has also appeared in ‘Harphoul Mohini’.
After nearly a decade in the television industry, Shagun has previously spoken about her approach to selecting roles, saying she considers the depth of a character more important than whether it is a positive, negative, lead or supporting role.
“I try to pick varied characters and push myself, even if it scares me at first. For me, the depth of the role matters more than whether it’s positive, negative, lead, or supporting,” she said.
