The Indian team, having secured an unbeatable lead in the series by winning the first two matches, will take the field with the intention of a clean sweep in the third and final T20 international match against Afghanistan on Thursday.

Indian captain Shreyas Iyer mentioned after the second match on Tuesday that there could be changes in the team combination for the third and final match at Feroz Shah Kotla, allowing all players to get necessary match practice before departing for Japan for the Asian Games starting September 19. So far, it has become clear that India is not willing to make special efforts to include Suryaanshi, who made his debut during the England tour in July when Sanju Samson was not in top form. Now both Samson and Abhishek Sharma are in good form.
Both players regularly play in the same format and therefore would not want to take a break. This leaves the team management with the decision to make changes. Iyer stated that they want all players to familiarize themselves with the wickets and conditions and to practice as well.
Therefore, it would be a good opportunity to give a chance to those players who have been out for a long time. There is also the option of including Suryaanshi in the final eleven by resting Ishan Kishan, who captained the East Zone in the Duleep Trophy before joining the national team. Samson is currently handling the wicketkeeping duties in the ongoing series.
Additionally, the team management would want Iyer and Tilak Varma to spend some time at the crease, as the outstanding performances of the top three batsmen in the first two matches have not given the other batsmen much opportunity to play. The situation is such that players like Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shivam Dubey have not yet had a chance to bat. Nitish Kumar Reddy took three wickets for 24 runs in the second match on Tuesday, which is a good sign for the team.
He is seen as a backup for the injured Hardik Pandya. Ravi Bishnoi, who is playing in place of the injured Varun Chakravarthy, performed well in the second match and is likely to be given another chance. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh have been impressive as always.
Afghanistan will need to find a way to face India’s experienced fast bowlers during the powerplay. Their batting performance has been disappointing, which is why they have not posed a strong challenge to India. If Afghanistan gets another chance to bat first, they will need to score at least 200 runs to challenge India.
After another heavy defeat, Afghanistan’s captain Ibrahim Zadran stated that they discussed how to convert scores of 150-160 into 200 runs. He emphasized that if they want to defeat the strongest team at the international level, their batsmen need to perform well.
