Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma is set to return with the fifth season of his popular comedy series The Great Indian Kapil Show, promising a festive dose of laughter for audiences worldwide.
Speaking about the new season, Kapil said every season leaves the team feeling they have delivered enough fun, only for them to realise there is still more to explore.
“Every season, we think we have done enough masti (fun), and then we realise that we are not done yet! And somewhere I feel that’s what keeps us going,” he said.
Kapil also expressed gratitude for the global response to the show on Netflix and said the upcoming season would embrace the festive spirit, including Diwali and Christmas.
“Bas lifafe Archana ji se duur rakhiye, baki hum Hasi ka Tyohaar to le kar aa hi rahe hain!” he quipped, urging viewers to keep the gifts and envelopes away from Archana Puran Singh while promising a “festival of laughter”.
Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix, said anticipation had been building during the six-month gap and that the new season would feature an exciting line-up of guests. She described the season as being about “har type ka funny”, with Kapil continuing to lead the comedy ensemble.
The makers unveiled a new promo on Wednesday, announcing that The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5 will premiere on Netflix on September 26 at 8 p.m.
The promo features Kapil alongside Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Archana Puran Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu, with the cast dressed in traditional attire and the setting reflecting the festive theme.
The fifth season will continue the show’s mix of comedy, celebrity guests and light-hearted entertainment, with the makers positioning it as a celebration of “Hasi Ka Tyohaar”.
