New Delhi, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : In a thrilling opener of the ODI Zimbabwe, Australian batsman Matt Renshaw scored a remarkable century on September 16, 2026. This was Renshaw’s first ODI century and his first international ton since 2017. Coming in at number six, he expressed that starting at the top of the order might have hindered his performance.
Renshaw shared his thoughts on batting in the middle order, stating, “It can be a bit tricky at the top. When I come in during the middle overs, my aim is to target areas where there are no fielders.” He emphasized the importance of spin bowling during this phase, considering it a significant factor in his success.
He remarked, “Facing two spinners in the 20th over of an ODI is a very different role compared to opening in red-ball cricket. I’ve been preparing as best as I can for this challenge. For me, the mental aspect is crucial. I don’t focus much on technique because it tends to confuse me.”
Renshaw’s innings of 109 runs helped Australia post a total of 294 runs for eight wickets. With Nathan Ellis taking five wickets, Australia secured a 59-run victory by restricting Zimbabwe to 235 runs. This century ended a decade-long wait for Renshaw, marking a significant milestone in his cricketing career.
