Daayra run time
When the makers of Daayra submitted the film for the censor screening, apparently, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) hadn’t had any objections with reference to the visuals. The committee suggested one small modification to ‘suitably modify’ one dialogue of Ajooni (Kareena Kapoor Khan) at around two hours. In the same dialogue, a word was replaced by ‘Minister.’ After the makers made the change and submitted to the censor, Daayra was passed on September 11. This brings the run time of the crime thriller to around two hours and 23 minutes with an A rating.
Daayra’s intense conversations
Daayra explores a brutal crime and a controversial extra-judicial police encounter from opposing ends of the legal system. There are some violent scenes and hard-hitting dialogues, and there was an apprehension that the censor board would dilute or mute the intense conversations. But the dialogues have been left untouched. The makers feel that the film gets to release exactly as they intended, and that the unfiltered perspectives of the narrative would make for a better cinematic experience.
One of the most-anticipated films
Daayra has certainly become one of the most anticipated releases of the year. What sets off the tone for the film is the powerhouse face-off and the intense moral conflict between Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj. The former plays DCP Ajooni Kohli, a stoic investigator who strictly operates within the boundaries of the law. On the other hand, Prithviraj plays DCP Raman Kumar, a rule-bending encounter specialist who prioritises immediate justice over the due legal course.
