New Maruti Hybrid To Deliver 35kmpl+ Mileage – Launch Timeline

Maruti Suzuki currently has three strong hybrid offerings on sale in India, including the Grand Vitara, Invicto and Victoris. All these models feature Toyota’s 1.5-litre TNGA-based 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine, paired with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. The petrol engine produces power worth 92PS and 122Nm of torque, while the electric motor delivers 80kW and 141Nm. The combined system output stands at 116PS.

Strong Hybrid Powertrain

Aiming to make strong hybrid technology more affordable and economical, Maruti Suzuki is developing an in-house series hybrid powertrain for its future mass-market products. The new Maruti Fronx compact crossover will reportedly be the first the model to feature the brand’s new strong hybrid powertrain. It’s likely to be based on Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine and could deliver a mileage of over 35kmpl.

According to reports, Maruti Suzuki’s new strong hybrid powertrain will be significantly more economical and efficient than Toyota’s Atkinson’ cycle setup. This series hybrid system will also be introduced in the next-generation Baleno hatchback, an all-new sub-4 metre MPV, the all-new Swift and Brezza by 2029.

ADAS & More

Spy images reveal that the 2027 Maruti Fronx facelift will feature an ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite, offering enhanced safety for occupants. Similar to the all-new Baleno, the updated Fronx is likely to borrow Level 2 ADAS suite, offering features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist and more.

Design & Dimensions

Apart from the ‘Hybrid’ badging, the Fronx hybrid is expected to look largely similar to the ICE-powered version. The compact crossover is likely to retain its upright nose, sporty front and rear bumpers with faux skid plates, split headlamps, 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, rising waistline, a sloping roofline and pronounced hunch over the rear wheel.

In terms of dimensions, the 2027 Maruti Fronx facelift is expected to remain unchanged. This means it will measure 3,995mm in length, 1,765mm in width and 1,550mm in height, which is similar to the Baleno hatchback.
