Tata Motor’s Punch and Nexon are dominating the sub-4 metre SUV segment in India. While the Tata Punch received a midlife update earlier this year, the Tata Nexon is set to undergo a full generational shift in 2027. The next-gen Nexon, which is currently doing test rounds, is expected to receive comprehensive design changes, interior upgrades and advanced tech. However, the engine lineup is likely to remain unchanged.
Design Highlights
Spy images reveal that the new Tata Nexon will retain its original silhouette along with the dual-tone alloy wheels, a sloping roofline and ORVMs. However, the side profile appears to feature subtle changes, including a sharper A-pillar, rear doors and spoiler. The SUV might also receive newly-designed LED taillamps, revised tailgate and bumper.
New Platform & Advanced Tech
Dimensionally, the 2027 Tata Nexon will remain largely unchanged. However, the biggest upgrade will be the introduction of the new ATLAS (adaptive tech-forward lifestyle architecture) platform, which also underpins the Curvv SUV.
Since the ATLAS architecture is a scalable platform that supports multiple body style, multiple powertrains and future technologies through cloud connectivity, the all-new Nexon is expected to be packed with several new advanced features. The new Tata Nexon is expected to be offered with a new touchscreen infotainment system featuring an updated UI, a new cabin theme, powered and ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof.
Same Engines
Under the hood, the 2027 Tata Nexon is likely to retain the existing 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines. The transmission options will also be carried forward. The CNG version will also continue with an underbody CNG tank, and offer an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 24km/kg.
Expected Prices
In terms of pricing, the new Nexon is likely to witness a price hike of up to Rs 50,000. The current-generation model is priced from Rs 7.40 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to compete with the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
