Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan is celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi away from home this year, but said his devotion to Lord Ganesha remains unchanged as he marks the festival in the UK.
The actor shared a picture on Instagram featuring himself with an idol of Lord Ganesha and wrote, “Miles away from home, but never away from Bappa! Ganpati Bappa Morya”.
Kartik is currently in the UK for the shoot of his upcoming film Captain India. The project is directed by Shimit Amin, known for Chak De! India, and reportedly draws inspiration from India’s real-life evacuation of citizens from a war-torn country.
The film is backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Baweja Studios, along with Dopamine Studios, while S.B. Films is handling production.
Kartik had earlier shared glimpses of his journey from Mumbai to London as he began work on the film. His post featured airport pictures, moments of him listening to music, reading the shooting draft on a tablet and his luggage. He captioned the post, “VABB to EGLL”, referring to the airport codes for Mumbai and London.
The actor has also had a significant year professionally after winning the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in the sports biopic Chandu Champion. He shared the honour with Malayalam cinema veteran Mammootty, who was recognised for his performance in Bramayugam.
Following the National Award recognition, Kartik was invited by President Droupadi Murmu to the ‘At Home Reception’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on August 15. He was the only Bollywood actor among the distinguished invitees at the formal Independence Day gathering.
The annual reception brings together prominent personalities from different fields, including political leaders, armed forces personnel, sportspersons, artists and other notable achievers.
