Daisy Shah on Ganpati Celebrations: ‘Bappa Is the Same, but the Feelings Are New’

Actress Daisy Shah says Ganesh Chaturthi brings a renewed sense of happiness and positivity to her home every year, even though the traditions and devotion remain unchanged.

Speaking about her family’s Ganpati celebrations, Daisy said the arrival of Lord Ganesha creates a distinct atmosphere at home and fills the household with fresh emotions.

“Bappa is the same; we are the same. It’s just that the feelings are new. There is new happiness. And whenever Bappa comes home, we feel that there is a different vibe going on in the house. The atmosphere is different. Everything starts to feel good,” she said.

Daisy said the Ganpati idol remains at her home for one-and-a-half days. The family also prepares a traditional Gujarati sweet as prasad for devotees visiting during the celebrations.

“In Gujarati, we make a ladoo, which is made of wheat flour and jaggery. We make it every year for Bappa,” she said.

She added that because the celebrations at her home last only one-and-a-half days, the family makes sure every devotee who visits receives the homemade prasad.

Daisy also spoke about the importance of spirituality in dealing with negativity and trolling on social media. She said spirituality can influence a person’s thought process, perspective and approach to difficult situations.

“It is very important to be spiritual. If nothing else, your thought process, your thinking, your perspective matters. If someone trolls you, you can shut him down by ignoring him,” she said.

She added that those who choose to respond can do so by presenting their point of view rather than reacting impulsively.

Ganesh Chaturthi began on September 14 this year, marking the beginning of the 10-day festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

Daisy was recently seen in the show Alliance. She made her breakthrough with the 2011 Kannada film Bhadra and later starred opposite Salman Khan in the 2014 Hindi film Jai Ho.
