Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor took a nostalgic trip down memory lane on Tuesday, sharing a rare black-and-white photograph from the Kapoor family archives featuring her late grandfather and legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor.
Kareena shared the photograph to mark the birthday of her first cousin Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. The picture captures Raj Kapoor surrounded by his three young granddaughters — Karisma Kapoor, Kareena and Riddhima.
In the memorable frame, baby Kareena and Riddhima are seated on their grandfather’s lap, while Karisma leans affectionately against him.
Sharing the photograph, Kareena posted a playful birthday message for Riddhima: “Happy Happy birthday Ridz We pretty much look the same as in this picture … Cute as ever …Have the best one @riddhimakapoorsahniofficial.”
Riddhima and Kareena are daughters of two of the Kapoor family’s prominent branches. Riddhima is the daughter of late actor Rishi Kapoor and actress Neetu Kapoor, while Kareena is the younger daughter of actor Randhir Kapoor and Babita Kapoor.
Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj Kapoor had three sons — Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv — and two daughters, Ritu Nanda and Rima Jain.
Known as the “Showman” of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor was among Hindi cinema’s most influential actors, filmmakers and producers. Born on December 14, 1924, he was the son of legendary theatre and film personality Prithviraj Kapoor.
Kareena and Karisma subsequently established successful careers in Bollywood, while Riddhima pursued a career as a jewellery designer. She later entered the entertainment space, appearing in The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives Season 2 and making her acting debut alongside her mother Neetu Singh in Dadi Ki Shaadi.
