Inter Milan showcased their resilience by overcoming a two-goal deficit to secure a thrilling 5-3 victory against Udinese on September 15. The match, held at the iconic San Siro, saw goals from Carlos Augusto, Nicolò Barella, Marcus Thuram, Pio Esposito, and Bonny.
Udinese started strong, quickly establishing a 2-0 lead within the first 16 minutes. However, Inter responded with Carlos Augusto’s stunning left-footed strike and a goal from Barella, leveling the score before halftime.
In the second half, the Nerazzurri took control with a goal from Thuram. Esposito executed a brilliant move to extend the lead, followed by another goal from Bonny. Udinese managed to pull one back late in the game through Guy, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
Before the match, Inter Milan honored two of their legendary champions, Giuseppe Bergomi and Lothar Matthäus, with a special ceremony. President and CEO Giuseppe Marotta presented them with tributes for their remarkable careers in the club’s colors.
With this victory, the Italian champions continued their strong start in the Serie A season, remaining at the top of the table with the most points ahead of their next match against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
Following the match, Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu emphasized the team’s identity and the need for continuous improvement. “We have a team that allows us to play in a special way and maintain a high level,” he stated. “We know we must keep working, as the season is long and there are areas where we can improve.”
