Mamitha Baiju is currently one of the most talked-about young actresses in South Indian cinema. Whether it is Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam cinema, her name has been generating considerable buzz in recent times.
The actress has now scored the biggest hit of her career with her latest Malayalam film, “Bethlehem Kudumba Unit”. The film was also dubbed into Telugu, but it did not receive much traction in the Telugu states despite earning praise from critics.
The Malayalam version, however, has turned into a phenomenal success. The rom-com has reportedly grossed over Rs 300 crore worldwide, emerging as the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. It has surpassed the previous records held by films including “Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra” and some of Mohanlal’s recent hits.
Directed by Girish AD, the film features Nivin Pauly as an older bachelor and Mamitha Baiju as a young student who falls for him. The unusual age-gap romance struck a chord with audiences and turned the film into an all-time blockbuster.
This is also Mamitha’s second major success of the year, following “Vishwanath and Sons”, which performed strongly in the Telugu market.
With back-to-back successes, Mamitha Baiju is fast emerging as one of the most sought-after young actresses in South Indian cinema.
