Singer Abhijeet Sawant has marked Ganesh Chaturthi with the release of his new devotional song ‘Gana Dhaav Re’, featuring background vocals by his daughters Aahana and Smeera.
Sawant described recording the song with his daughters as an emotional experience and said their participation in a musical offering to Lord Ganesha felt like a divine coincidence.
“Having my daughters accompany me on a song for Bappa is Bappa’s divine coincidence. The feeling when I recorded Gana Dhaav Re with Aahana and Smeera was very emotional,” he said.
The singer said the song marks the first musical collaboration involving all three of them and was created especially for Lord Ganesha.
“This is the first song of the three of us in my musical journey, made especially for Bappa, what could be greater than this!” Sawant said, adding that the song aims to reflect the personal bond people share with Bappa.
Sawant rose to prominence after winning the inaugural season of ‘Indian Idol’. His debut solo album, Aapka Abhijeet Sawant, was released in 2005, the same year he made his playback singing debut with “Mar Jaawan Mit Jaawan” in Aashiq Banaya Aapne.
His second album, Junoon, followed in 2007, while his third studio album, Farida, was released in 2013.
Sawant also ventured into acting, making his film debut in Lottery in 2009. He later made a brief appearance in Tees Maar Khan and appeared as himself in television shows including Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai and C.I.D.
In July, Sawant reunited with fellow Indian Idol Season 1 finalist Amit Sana on the show’s 75th-episode Diamond Jubilee special. The reunion brought the two former finalists together on the Indian Idol stage more than two decades after the show’s first season.
