India’s junior achieved remarkable success at the 2026 Asia Cup, with both the men’s and women’s teams clinching the championship titles.

The Indian women’s hockey team secured their title by defeating the host nation, China, with a narrow 1-0 victory in the final match. Meanwhile, the men’s team dominated South Korea, winning 4-1 and claiming the trophy for the sixth time.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi praised the junior women’s team, stating, “A proud moment for Indian hockey. Congratulations to our junior women’s hockey team for retaining the with a fantastic and unbeatable performance. Their success reflects the talent and determination of the players. Best wishes to the entire team.”
He also congratulated the men’s team, writing, “Congratulations to our junior men’s hockey team for winning the Asia Cup with a stunning 4-1 victory in the final. This is truly a remarkable achievement that showcases the tremendous skill of our young players. Best wishes to the entire team.”
Throughout the tournament, the Indian men’s team displayed exceptional form. This victory marks their fourth consecutive title at the Asia Cup. Ajit Yadav scored the first goal in the 9th minute, followed by Anmol Ekka in the 13th minute, extending India’s lead to 2-0. Prabhdeep added a third goal in the 21st minute, and Ashu Maurya sealed the win with a fourth goal in the 50th minute. South Korea managed only one goal during the match.
On the women’s side, the team showcased a strong defense to secure their title. The lone goal came from Sanika Chandrakant in the 17th minute, after which the Indian defense held firm, denying China any chance to equalize. With this victory, the women’s team completed a hat-trick by winning the Cup for the third time.
The achievements of both teams highlight the growing prowess of Indian hockey on the international stage.
