NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik raised questions regarding Sanju Samson’s position in the squad.
Dinesh’s question comes just hours before the announcement of the Indian squad for the T20 match against Afghanistan to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Karthik wants to know where the coach will make Sanju play, considering the splendid form of Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in opening roles.
“What will the batting order look like? At what position will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi play? What is the decision regarding Sanju Samson? How will he be accommodated in the team? Sanju was a key player in the World Cup, yet he was dropped from the squad during the England series. Where does he stand in the team now?” asked Dinesh Karthik.
Karthik also opined that this match should be used to clearly define the team’s batting order and bowling lineup, rather than focusing solely on winning the series. Sanju was not included in the squad for the T20I series against Zimbabwe. Sanju was dropped after his poor performance in the Ireland and England series. Sanju is now aiming to make a strong comeback in the series against Afghanistan.
