RGV promises ‘love dish full of gangster curry’ with Saiyaara director Mohit Suri

Director-producer Ram Gopal Varma has teased a high-profile collaboration with director Mohit Suri, sharing a picture on social media to reveal their joint venture. The announcement comes as Suri prepares for his next directorial project following the record-breaking box office run of his 2025 hit Saiyaara, featuring actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.

Teasing the genre mashup in his signature style, Varma hinted that the upcoming film will blend his classic crime elements with Suri’s signature romantic storytelling. On Sunday, Varma posted a selfie with Suri on his X handle. He wrote, “Me and #Saiyaara‘s @mohit11481 for his NEXT film, are COOKING together a LOVE DISH full of GANGSTER CURRY .. Details to be SERVED VERY VERY SOON (fire emojis) (sic).”

 

Alongside his prospective venture with Varma, Suri is set to reunite with Yash Raj Films, slated to go on floors later this year. Targeted for a 2027 theatrical release, the project marks a second collaboration for the trio following the massive box office run of Saiyaara.

Released in 2025, Saiyaara achieved landmark commercial success, grossing Rs 329.73 crore net in India and Rs 570.33 crore worldwide, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. While details regarding the release timeline of Varma and Suri’s joint project remain undisclosed, trade observers note that both directors are actively expanding their respective slate of upcoming releases.

Varma has confirmed his next directorial venture, a horror film titled  . The project is reportedly assembling an ensemble cast, with Genelia D’Souza, Ramya Krishnan, and Rajpal Yadav rumoured to be joining the line-up. Simultaneously, the filmmaker is developing Police Company, a parallel project featuring Harshvardhan Rane, Fardeen Khan, and Paresh Rawal.
