Actress Manisha Koirala has praised her father, Prakash Koirala, for setting aside his political career while remaining committed to his vision of a stable and prosperous Nepal.
Taking to social media on Father’s Day, the ‘Dil Se’ actress reflected on her father’s political journey and described his involvement in politics as a lifelong passion and responsibility towards the country rather than simply a profession.
Manisha recalled that her father developed an interest in politics at an early age and chose to study Political Science. She said her grandfather and veteran Nepali politician B.P. Koirala recognised his values, analytical ability and strength of character and encouraged him to enter politics.
Sharing a photograph with her father, Manisha wrote that she has always admired his “deep understanding of politics” and his ability to analyse issues beyond the obvious.
“What defines you most is your simplicity. You have never sought attention or recognition. Quietly, you continue to dream of a stable, prosperous Nepal—even when it meant putting your own political career aside,” she wrote.
Calling her father a true nationalist, Manisha said his commitment was reflected not merely in words but in conviction and sacrifice. She added that she was “deeply proud” to be his daughter.

Prakash Koirala is a Nepali politician and former Cabinet minister who also served as a member of Parliament. He was elected to Nepal’s House of Representatives in a by-election following the 1999 general election. He is the son of former Nepalese Prime Minister Bishweshwar Prasad (B.P.) Koirala.
