Young golfer Hissi Besra delivered an impressive performance at the US Kids India (North) tournament held in Gurugram, securing the title in the Girls 11-12 category with a remarkable score of 5-under 67. This achievement marks another highlight in her promising career, as she has consistently placed in the top three in various events, including last year’s US Kids India Championship.
Playing at the Classic Golf and Country Club, Hissi showcased her skills by making six birdies throughout her round. The only blemish on her scorecard was a bogey on the sixth hole, a par-4. She started strong with birdies on the first, third, and eighth holes of the front nine, and continued her momentum with additional birdies on the 10th, 12th, and 15th holes, finishing with three pars.
In recent months, Hissi has been in the spotlight for her stellar performances, having previously finished in the top three at tournaments such as the CSK South Zone Championship in Chennai, the Patna Junior Masters, the Kolkata Juniors, and the Shubhankar Sharma All India Junior Invitational.
The first leg of the 2026 US Kids Golf India (North) tournament implemented the “preferred lies” rule, allowing young players to showcase their exceptional skills and sportsmanship. Among the other winners, Nihal Cheema, who recently medaled at the US Kids World Championship in Pinehurst, recorded an under-par score of 70, triumphing in the Boys 9 category after outpacing fellow talent Jowra Veer Sikand, who scored 76.
Gurugram’s Rayarth Jain also put on an exciting display, starting his round with two bogeys and reaching 1-over by the 13th hole. However, he found his rhythm and finished strong with four birdies in the last five holes, concluding with a score of 2-under 70.
Drona Singh Dhull, who has claimed multiple titles on the Indian circuit this season, successfully defended his title from last year in the Boys 11 category. Competing this time in the Boys 12 category, he managed a score of 1-under 71 despite facing three consecutive bogeys from the 15th to the 17th holes.
The second leg of the tournament is set to take place on Friday, September 11, at the Classic Golf and Country Club.
