How many players bid, how many slots vacant?
Under the rules of WPL, each franchise must have a maximum of 18 and at least 15 players in its squad. In this also there cannot be more than 6 foreign players. In October, the WPL franchise had released the list of its retained and released players. After this, slots for a total of 30 players (9 foreigners) have become vacant for the auction. That means only a maximum of 30 players can be purchased. A total of 165 players will bid for these 30 slots. Gujarat has maximum 10 slots vacant.
Which team has the most money?
While in IPL this time the auction purse is Rs 100 crore, in WPL the auction purse for the franchises is only Rs 13.5 crore. That means only this much amount can be spent to buy players. Now, the amount of the players who have been retained has already been deducted and the remaining amount will be put in the auction. According to this, Gujarat will enter the auction with the highest price of Rs 5.95 crore. Whereas Mumbai will have the least, Rs 2.1 crore. UP will have Rs 4 crore, Bangalore will have Rs 3.35 crore and Delhi will have Rs 2.25 crore.
Which player has the highest base price?
The highest base price in WPL is Rs 50 lakh. This time only two players are coming with this base price. Former West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin and Australian all-rounder Kim Garth have kept this base price and a fight is expected for both of them.
Which players will keep an eye on?
Apart from Deandra Dottin and Kim Garth, there are some foreign players who will be kept an eye on and may get higher bids. In this, the prominent names of England’s explosive opener Danny Wyatt (base price 30 lakh), Sri Lanka’s veteran captain Chamri Atapattu (base price 30 lakh) and Australia’s Annabel Sutherland (base price 30 lakh). Apart from these, Australian spinner Amanda Jade Wellington (base price Rs 30 lakh), who was the player of the match in the WBBL final, will also be a big contender.
