Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially released the schedule for the upcoming Test series against West Indies.
The home team aims to maintain their momentum following a recent drawn series against Australia in the ICC World Test Championship cycle.
The first Test is set to take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur from October 28 to November 1. The second and final Test will be held in Sylhet from November 5 to November 9.
This series holds significant importance for both teams as they strive to improve their standings in the World Test Championship. With the championship progressing, these two matches are expected to be pivotal for both sides’ aspirations to climb the rankings.
Currently, Bangladesh sits fourth in the standings with three wins, two losses, and one draw from six matches. Their recent performance, which included a drawn series against Australia, has boosted their confidence. Prior to this, they faced a 1-0 series defeat against Sri Lanka but secured a 2-0 win in a home series against Pakistan.
On the other hand, West Indies is positioned just above Pakistan in eighth place. They have recorded two wins, eight losses, and two draws in twelve Tests during the current cycle. The Caribbean team has had a challenging start, losing their first five Tests, including a 0-3 defeat at home against Australia and a 0-2 loss in an away series against India.
Finally, West Indies managed to secure their first victory in this cycle against Sri Lanka, winning that two-match home series 1-0. They recently drew their series against Pakistan 1-1, providing a much-needed boost to their campaign.
