Seeds tumbled in the Tapti Valley 5th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, with Khanak Shah and Neeyati Pathak causing women’s upsets and Ayaz Murad, Pratham Madlani and Ved Panchal scoring surprise wins in the men’s draw at Tapti Valley International School.
Ahmedabad’s Khanak defeated eighth-seeded Namna Jayswal of Bhavnagar 3-0, while Surat’s Neeyati shocked seventh-seeded Charmy Trivedi 3-1 to reach the pre-quarterfinals. Top seeds Mouboni Chatterjee and Riya Jayswal won 3-0. In the men’s pre-quarterfinals, 12th-seeded Ayaz edged fifth seed Soham Bhattacharya 3-2, ninth seed Pratham beat eighth seed Dhairya Parmar 3-2, and 10th seed Ved defeated seventh seed Nutanshu Dayama 3-1. Top seed Abhilash Raval, Poojan Chandarana, Janmejay Patel, Dhyey Jani and Jaynil Mehta advanced to the quarters.
In U-19 boys, Janmejay and Ved won 3-1, while Abhilaksh Patel and Pawan Kumar registered 3-0 victories. Ansh Khamar and Malav Panchal survived five-game battles.
