Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Ltd, in partnership with Motus Holdings, has officially launched the Tata Osprey in the South African market. Known locally in India as the Nexon, this compact SUV has been given a new identity inspired by a bird renowned for its adaptability, vision, and strength across diverse landscapes.
Alongside the vehicle rollout, Tata Motors also introduced its new global customer-facing brand identity, TATA.CARS, in the region. The strategic launch aims to strengthen the brand footprint overseas while offering local buyers an upmarket compact utility vehicle option equipped with modern styling elements.
Tata Osprey Specifications and Features
The Tata Osprey is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Exterior styling highlights include bi-LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, X-graphic full LED taillights, a panoramic sunroof, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the SUV features automatic climate control, a cooled glove box, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, push-button start with passive entry, cruise control, and both Type-A and Type-C USB ports. Safety provisions comprise six airbags, Electronic Stability Program, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front parking sensors, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and a 360-degree HD surround view system with a blind view monitor.
