Hina Khan Reacts To Kriti Sanon’s Rakhi Ad Controversy: Actors Have Option To Opt Out

Kriti Sanon was massively criticised for featuring in a Raksha Bandhan advertisement for a jewellery brand. The actress was trolled for wearing an ethnic outfit, which a section of netizens felt was inappropriate for the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. After the actress received backlash, the brand pulled down the advertisement. Now, television actress Hina Khan has weighed in on the entire controversy. During a recent episode of The4POV, the actress discussed Kriti’s Rakhi ad row with her husband, Rocky Jaiswal, and actors Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla. Here’s what she said.

During the episode, Hina shared her opinion on , stating that actors always have a choice. “Sometimes, some brands are very adamant on a certain sort of their creative. They want to do it their way. As an actor, you always have the option of opting out, considering that it may backfire. Maybe it was not well thought or maybe they thought it may not become what it became.”

Having said that, the actress also felt that Kriti didn’t deserve the kind of criticism she got because of that advertisement. “The level at which… what happened and what is happening, no one deserves so much. Ek cheez hogayi, aapne itna socha nahi and it happened. But then people don’t let it go. It becomes big and very big,” she mentioned in Hindi.

Hina added that she doesn’t blame Kriti or the brand. She mentioned that the brand has its own opinion, while Kriti has her own opinion that she will dress up or wear what she wants to wear. “Like mujhse as Hina pucha jayega ki what is your opinion, I will give my opinion. But at the same time, mujhe ye bhi lagta hai ki we as actors always have the option of opting out.”

Meanwhile, on the work front,  rose to fame with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The actress played the role of Akshara for the longest time in Rajan Shahi’s television show. She later featured in shows like Bigg Boss 11, Khatron Ke Khiladi 8, and more. She even did Ektaa Kapoor’s Naagin season 5. The actress also participated in Pati Patni Aur Panga with her husband Rocky. Most recently, she made a special appearance in Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan-hosted Lock Upp season 2.
