Shafali Verma added another remarkable chapter to her young international career during India’s Women’s Asia Cup 2026 clash against Pakistan in Dubai, becoming the youngest and fastest player to reach 3,000 runs in Women’s T20I cricket.
The landmark came almost immediately after India began their chase of 56. Needing just seven runs to reach 3,000, Shafali smashed Sadia Iqbal for a six off the first ball and then took a single from the next delivery to complete the milestone.
Shafali Verma creates Record
At 22 years and 220 days, Shafali surpassed Ireland’s Gaby Lewis, who had reached 3,000 T20I runs at 24 years and 347 days. She also broke Australia’s Alyssa Healy’s record for reaching the mark in the fewest balls, getting there in just 2,182 deliveries, compared to Healy’s 2,321.
Shafali is now the third Indian woman to cross 3,000 T20I runs, joining Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur. Her achievement is particularly significant considering she made her India debut as a 15-year-old in 2019.
Her record-breaking moment came in a match India dominated from the outset. Pakistan were bowled out for just 55, their lowest-ever Women’s T20I total, with Sree Charani and Prema Rawat claiming three wickets apiece and Deepti Sharma taking two.
Shafali’s contribution after reaching the milestone was brief. She was dismissed for 12 off six balls, but Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma guided India home in just 8.4 overs for a seven-wicket victory.
The win completed India’s perfect Group A campaign, with three victories from three matches and six points. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team have already advanced to the semifinals of the Women’s Asia Cup and are clear favourites to lift the trophy. After this, the Indian women’s team will fly to Japan for the Asian Games.
