We recently reported that Rashmika Mandanna is set to play legendary singer and Bharat Ratna awardee M.S. Subbulaxmi in a biopic planned by Allu Aravind in association with Rockline Venkatesh. Here’s the latest update.
The makers initially approached Sai Pallavi for the role, but she could not take it up due to her other commitments. Rukmini Vasanth’s name was also briefly considered before the team finally zeroed in on Rashmika Mandanna. However, she took some time to come on board.
Rashmika has now officially signed the project. The makers are planning to announce her involvement later this month with a special poster.
The actress will take time to study M.S. Subbulaxmi’s life and learn aspects of classical singing for the role. National Award-winning filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri, who directed Jersey, is helming the film. He has been working on the script and pre-production for some time.
The team is also planning a special photoshoot with Rashmika as part of the film’s announcement.
