Mirzapur The Movie Sequel Confirmed? Here’s What We Know

Mirzapur: The Movie, directed by Gurmmeet Singh, has released in theatres. It draws inspiration from the first season of the successful Amazon Prime Video series, Mirzapur. While it is a standalone film, the characters are taken from the series. Before the release of Mirzapur: The Movie, fans were anticipating a sequel. The film does give a major hint. Mirzapur: The Movie is expected to open in the range of Rs 25 crore to 30 crore. Looking at the early predictions, it seems the makers will begin shooting for the sequel soon.

 s sequel has been confirmed. The film ended on a cliffhanger. It is known that Munna (Divyenndu) and Guddu   are in love with Sweety Gupta (Shriya Pilgaonkar). In the series, Sweety rejects Munna and chooses Guddu, and this is one of the reasons behind their rivalry. Mirzapur: The Movie takes a different route.

What to expect from Mirzapur: The Movie sequel?

The entire Guddu-Sweety-Munna track will possibly be explored in the sequel. The film ends with Munna and Guddu discussing their love lives. They are left shocked to learn that the woman they love is Sweety. The sequel will potentially tap into the romantic arch of the story and give a new angle to the love triangle. The first season of Mirzapur ended with Sweety’s death. Munna, in the heat of the moment, shoots her. She was pregnant with her and Guddu’s first child. The next two seasons of the Amazon Prime Video show focus on Guddu’s revenge from the Tripathis. Along with Sweety, Bablu also dies in the first season. The film follows a different approach.

About Mirzapur: The Movie

The story of Mirzapur: The Movie is set in 2018, when Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) instructs Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Bablu (Jitendra Kumar) to kill the son of an ally after he switches sides and cheats him. Kaleen’s trust in the Pandit brothers bothers his son Munna  . The entry of Babban (Ravi Kishan) brings the three men together and their banter and clashes form an important part of the story.

In the series, Bablu was played by Vikrant Massey. Jitendra Kumar plays the role in the film adaptation. Mirzapur: The Movie was released in theatres today. The film also stars Ravi Kishan, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Pramod Pathak, Shweta Tripathi, Sonal S. Chauhan, Anangsha Biswas, Shaji Chaudhary, Satendra Soni, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Sushant Singh in pivotal roles.
