Shehnaaz Gill on Exploring Bengali Culture Through ‘Singh Vs Kaur 2’: ‘I Enjoyed It a Lot’

Actress Shehnaaz Gill has opened up about her character Jasneet Kaur in “Singh Vs Kaur 2”, saying the role gave her an opportunity to explore Bengali culture, language and different facets of the character.

In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Shehnaaz said playing Jasneet, who comes from a Bengali background, was an enjoyable and interesting experience. The film’s story spans Punjab, Kolkata and Canada, allowing the actress to explore different cultural settings.

“It was a lot of fun, and it was a very interesting character. And I enjoyed living in that culture,” Shehnaaz said.

She also praised the way Kolkata has been portrayed in the film, urging audiences to watch the movie to see how the city and her character have been presented.

“When you watch the film on 11th September, you tell me how much you found my character interesting. I enjoyed it a lot,” she added.

Shehnaaz also addressed whether she feels pressure because “Singh Vs Kaur 2” is a sequel to the earlier film. She said she does not expect comparisons because the character she plays is different from the Jasmeet featured in the first instalment.

“As far as comparisons are concerned, in Singh Vs Kaur, the first character was a girl named Jasmeet, who was someone else. Now, it’s me. So, I don’t have any pressure about this at all,” she said.

Shehnaaz added that audiences may have strong memories of the first film, but expressed confidence that they would connect with her character as well.

Directed by Navaniat Singh, “Singh Vs Kaur 2” stars Gippy Grewal and Shehnaaz Gill in the lead roles. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 11, 2026.
