Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set to be seen in Daayra. The actress, who started working when she was just 19, has built a career spanning more than two decades. She made her Bollywood debut in 2000 with Refugee, opposite Abhishek Bachchan, and went on to establish herself as one of the leading actresses of her generation.
Recently, she opened up about a decision from her younger years that she continues to regret: not completing her education. In an interview with podcaster Hanuman Dass, the actress revealed that she left her studies after Class XI to pursue acting.
She said, “I never finished my education, and that was something that kind of stayed with me. Even though I had the opportunity, I got into movies and didn’t study any further after Class XI. I know a lot of people can make fun of that or say whatever they want, but I wanted to prove myself as an actor. That was something I wanted to do, to follow my heart.”
She continued, “Education is something I do regret not completing. That’s why I have pushed my boys to finish their education first and then follow their hearts. When UNICEF approached me about supporting young girls’ education in India, I felt deeply about it because I had always carried that regret that I hadn’t completed my own education.”
On the work front, Kareena will next be seen in Daayra, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar. The crime thriller, inspired by true events, stars Kareena as DCP Ajooni Kohli and Prithviraj Sukumaran as DCP Raman Kumar, two police officers who find themselves on opposing sides of a case and have very different ideas of justice.
