The luxury car manufacturer JLR recently launched the Range Rover Electric, which is the first ever all-electric Range Rover of the brand. The bookings for the model have also been started in India along with the launch. The manufacturing of the new model will be done from the JLR factory located in Solihull, UK, which has been the production site of since 1970.
Range Rover Electric: Model Lineup
The electric Range Rover from JLR will be sold in a variety of trims and bodies. This includes the standard wheelbase Autobiography, while the long wheelbase models will be available in SV, SV Ultra, and SV Black editions.
In addition, there will be a limited edition First Edition of the electric Range Rover. Buyers can opt for the exterior colors such as Belgravia Green, Santorini Black and Varesine Blue, while the limited edition vehicle will come with a new interior trim option.
Range Rover Electric: Performance and Battery
The Range Rover Electric comes equipped with a powertrain with two motors that use permanent magnet technology to provide power. The combination produces a top power rating of 543bhp and 850Nm of torque, making it the highest ever produced in a Range Rover.
Power will be supplied by a 118.5kWh battery, but an 800V electrical system helps charge the vehicle at high speeds. The use of a 350kW DC charger can take the battery from 10 to 80% charge in around 22 minutes. According to JLR, in a span of 10 minutes, 220km can be gained.
Range Rover claims that the SUV can run up to 535km in actual road conditions, but the maximum range that it can attain according to the WLTP measurement is 600km. Additionally, the lack of a conventional engine in the car provides a much quieter drivetrain.
Range Rover Electric: Off-Roading Remains a Priority
The SUV is equipped with an advanced Integrated Traction Management feature which has the ability to adapt to the varying conditions of the surface in 50 milliseconds.
It also has one-pedal driving and can tackle gradients of 45 degrees. Its water-wading capabilities remain at 900mm, just like those of its fuel-fed variants.
