The Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games will run from September 19 to October 4, 2026, with cricket set to feature as part of the sporting programme.
The tournament is being organised by the Asian Games organising committee alongside the Asian Cricket Council. Cricket matches will take place at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, located outside central Nagoya.
Japan Cricket Association CEO Naoki Alex Miyaji addressed concerns about accommodation arrangements for participating cricket teams. The JCA and the Asian Games organising committee have been working through accommodation options with the Asian Cricket Council for an extended period to finalise suitable arrangements, according to Al Jazeera.
Addressing concerns over the accommodation arrangements for cricket teams, Japan Cricket Association CEO Naoki Alex Miyaji said that participating sides would be provided with hotel accommodation.
“The participating teams in cricket are being offered hotel accommodation,” Miyaji was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
Miyaji also highlighted that cricket teams would have relatively better accommodation facilities compared to athletes from several other sports at the Asian Games.
“Many other sports are being accommodated in much more limited facilities, such as a cruise ship or container hotels,” Miyaji said.
Playing facilities and pitch preparation
Speaking about the playing facilities being prepared for the cricket tournament, Miyaji expressed confidence in the quality of the playing surface and field at the venue.
“From what I have seen, the playing surface and field will be the best seen in cricket’s inclusion in the Asian Games,” Miyaji added.
He further explained that the facilities were being developed with the aim of providing players and officials with the best possible environment despite the time and infrastructure constraints.
“To ensure that the best facilities are provided within the limited timeline and facility restrictions. Despite being temporary, the facilities will provide as comfortable a space as possible for the players and officials,” he concluded.
The Indian team will begin their campaign with a Quarterfinal clash on September 28.
