There has been an uproar in Haryana for the last two days over a statement given by State Agriculture Minister JP Dalal regarding farmers and their family women. At various places, Khap Panchayats and farmer organizations are protesting on the streets against Haryana Agriculture Minister JP Dalal. Three days ago, the Agriculture Minister had given a controversial statement from the stage at the state level horticulture fair in village Giganau of Bhiwani. Its video became quite viral.
In the video, the Agriculture Minister is seen saying that those whose wives do not even listen to them are roaming around as farmer leaders. He has taken the contract of farmers. I know everyone. There are five cases against some, three cases against others. Everyone is working in the opposite direction. Someone’s wife has run away and someone’s daughter has run away.
After the controversial video of Agriculture Minister went viral, Congress has demanded the resignation of Agriculture Minister JP Dalal. Haryana Congress state president Udaybhan said that if a person holding the post of minister makes such a statement about the farmers of the state and their daughters-in-law, then he should be immediately dismissed from the cabinet. The minister should publicly apologize to the women and farmers of the state for his statement.
BJP defends JP Dalal
On this entire issue, Haryana state BJP in-charge Biplab Dev defended JP Dalal and said that his statement is being distorted and JP Dalal has done a lot of work in the interest of farmers in the state. His statement is being misrepresented.
However, Khap Panchayats and farmer organizations of Haryana are adamant on demanding a public apology from Agriculture Minister JP Dalal and withdrawal of his statement. For the second consecutive day in Jind, Haryana, Khap Panchayat representatives and farmer leaders demonstrated strongly against JP Dalal and burnt his effigy.
Farmer organizations warned to intensify protests
Farmer organizations and Khap Panchayats of Haryana made it clear that if Agriculture Minister JP Dalal does not publicly apologize for his statement in the coming days, then this protest will be intensified in the coming days.
