The right-handed batsman said that he is focusing on staying in the present, following the process, and enjoying his time in the game.
“That is too far (the World Cup). I am looking forward for today. World Cup is next year. It is, I mean, just like a normal human being, it is just about going in and about each and every day. There are a lot of various tournaments that happen in a span of one year,” he told reporters during an event in Coimbatore.
“Ranji Trophy, then domestic, international, a lot of things. So, if I just put all things around and sit down and answer about everything now, it will be very tough. But it is just about staying in the present, following the process. And just looking to enjoy whatever time I will be there,” added Gaikwad.
ODI World Cup 2027: Hosting countries
The ODI World Cup 2027 is set to be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The Cricket World Cup will mark its return to Africa after 24 years.
2003 was the last time the tournament was hosted in Africa. Zimbabwe, and Kenya were the hosting countries. Australia defeated Team India by 125 runs in the title clash of the mega event.
Earlier, a grand ceremony in Johannesburg unveiled the 12 venues that will host next year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, with eight cities from South Africa, three from Zimbabwe and Namibia’s capital Windhoek selected as tournament locations.
