Madhav Tiwari leads Ujjain Falcons to 92-run victory over Gwalior Cheetahs in MPL T20 opener

The Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) T20 Scindia Cup 2026 commenced with an impressive performance by Ujjain Falcons, who secured a dominant 92-run victory against Gwalior Cheetahs.

Madhav Tiwari played a pivotal role, delivering an unbeaten 62 runs from 31 balls, including five sixes and four boundaries, and later taking two wickets.

Reflecting on the match, Tiwari stated, “It’s a great feeling to start the season with a win. I’m happy that I could contribute with both bat and ball and help the team. When I went in to bat, the idea was to keep the momentum going and finish strongly. Getting a wicket in my very first over was an added bonus and helped put us in a strong position. Overall, it was a good team performance and a positive way to begin the tournament.”

After winning the toss, Gwalior Cheetahs elected to bowl first. Ujjain Falcons began strongly, with captain Chanchal Rathore and Yash Dubey putting on 53 runs in the first five overs. Rathore scored 33 runs from 17 balls before being dismissed LBW by Saumy Pandey.

Yash Dubey then partnered with Ojaswa Yadav to add 51 runs for the second wicket. Gwalior Cheetahs responded by quickly dismissing both batsmen. Dubey ended with 37 runs from 26 balls, while Yadav contributed 31 runs from 23 deliveries.

The innings’ latter part was dominated by Tiwari, who propelled Ujjain Falcons to a total of 221 for 6 in 20 overs. He received support from Aryan Pandey, who scored a brisk 19 runs off seven balls.

In their reply, Gwalior Cheetahs experienced an early setback when Kuldeep Gehi was bowled by Tiwari for 9 runs from 6 balls. Shortly after, Kartik Parihar was caught by Rishi Miglani off Gajendra Goswami for 9 runs from 4 deliveries.

Parth Chaudhary provided resistance with a rapid 46 runs off 18 balls, including three fours and five sixes. However, his dismissal to Aayush Mankar marked a turning point, with Mankar subsequently removing Arpit Patel and Vikas Sharma. Rishi Miglani also made a critical contribution by dismissing Gwalior Cheetahs captain Rajat Patidar for 11 runs from 8 balls.

The Cheetahs were unable to recover, losing wickets at frequent intervals and were ultimately bowled out for 129 runs.
