The shooting of Prabhas starrer “Kalki 2” is currently on hold, even though director Nag Ashwin completed a schedule featuring Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan a couple of months ago. The director had begun work on the second part of the blockbuster “Kalki 2898 AD” hoping that Prabhas would be available for a major schedule from September 2026.
However, Prabhas is currently busy with “Fauji”, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, and “Spirit”, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. “Fauji” is scheduled for release in December 2026, and completing these two projects is currently his priority. As a result, he is unable to allot dates to “Kalki 2”.
Nag Ashwin has now confirmed that the production has been temporarily halted.
Speaking at a movie event recently, he said, “We have done ten days of shooting till now. There is still a lot to do. Prabhas is not getting time to allot dates to us right now. We will plan a big shooting schedule when he finds time for our movie.”
This means the main shooting of “Kalki 2” is likely to begin only in 2027. The film is the sequel to “Kalki 2898 AD”, one of the biggest hits in Prabhas’s career, and will continue the story established in the first part.
