Priyadarshan is coming up with his next directorial venture, Haiwaan, on September 11, 2026. Starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, the Hindi film is a remake of the Malayalam flick, Oppam. Before the release of the film, Priydarshan has reportedly started working on his 99th film’s pre-production as a director, which is tentatively titled Wicked Sunny. It is going to be a comedy-thriller, which is being headlined by Akshay Kumar. The details about the project are still under wraps, but in a recent interview, Priyadarshan spilled the beans about Akshay Kumar’s role in his 99th directorial venture.
Priyadarshan On Akshay Kumar’s Role In His 99th Film
’s next with is reportedly called Wicked Sunny. His 99th film will also mark his ninth collaboration with Khiladi Kumar. During an interaction with India Today, Priyadarshan was asked about Akshay’s character in his upcoming film.
Without sharing much detail about it, the Hungama director said, “Akshay Kumar’s character is going to be very, very interesting; I am making him play a hunter.” Well, it is indeed going to be a dynamic role. The upcoming comedy-thriller is being backed by Tips Films and is expected to go on the floors in December 2026. The official announcement about the title of Priyadarshan’s 99th film is still awaited.

For the unversed, Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar have earlier worked together on films like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan, Khatta Meetha and so on. Their last film, Bhooth Bangla, received mixed to positive responses from the masses.
