Keerthy Suresh’s weight-loss journey highlights why strength training matters

Keerthy Suresh’s transformation has once again drawn attention after the actress spoke about losing approximately 9 kg through changes to her diet and exercise routine.

However, her fitness experience also highlights an important point: simply increasing the amount of cardio may not always produce the desired result.

During an earlier phase of her transformation, Keerthy reportedly relied heavily on cardio workouts. Although the approach helped her lose weight, she later felt that she had also lost a considerable amount of muscle and had become excessively thin.

Her approach subsequently evolved to include yoga and strength-based workouts, alongside a greater focus on protein in her everyday meals.

Keerthy has previously spoken about including foods such as egg whites, paneer, tofu, chickpeas, soya and various pulses in her diet. She has also said that she does not depend on protein shakes to meet her nutritional needs.

The actress once mentioned consuming several egg whites a day while incorporating other protein-rich foods into her meals. Her experience illustrates the difference between simply losing weight and building a balanced fitness routine. Cardio can remain a useful component of exercise, but combining it with strength training, adequate nutrition and recovery can be important for maintaining muscle while pursuing fitness goals.
