Green crackers: The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the construction of green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR. For this, it will be necessary to get a certificate from Neeri and PESO. However, the court did not allow the firecrackers to be sold in the Delhi-NCR area. The court said that the cracker making companies will not sell firecrackers in the Delhi-NCR region till further orders.

Supreme Court said- Green can make firecrackers, not allowed to sell

A three-judge bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai, Vinod Chandran and Justice NV Anjaria allowed the certified manufacturers of green firecrackers (who have permits from Neeri and PESO) to make green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR. The condition is that they will not be sold in the National Capital Region.

The Supreme Court said, “We allow the manufacturers to make firecrackers who have a certificate of green crackers certified by Neeri and PESO. The manufacturers will have to promise in front of the court that they will not sell any of their crackers in Delhi-NCR till the next order passed by this court.” The next hearing in this case will be held on 8 October.

Supreme Court sought a proposal to change the complete ban on the construction of firecrackers from the Center

The court directed the Central Government to propose to amend the complete ban on the construction of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR after consulting all the stakeholders. During the hearing, the bench stated that complete ban could not be practical and ideal. The experience has shown that it could not be implemented despite a complete ban on firecrackers.

Giving the example of Bihar, the bench said that illegal mining mafia has emerged due to complete ban on mining in Bihar. It is necessary to adopt a balanced approach in this case. The central government, Delhi government, cracker manufacturers and all stakeholders including sellers should find any solution.
