Magician Karan Singh has opened up about his experience on the reality show ‘The Traitors’, saying the absence of immediate feedback left him unsure whether his decisions and strategies were working.
Karan spoke to IANS after his elimination from the show, alongside Soundous Mouafakir, Harman Singha and Munawar Faruqui.
Explaining why the format was particularly challenging for him, Karan compared the experience with his work as a stage magician. He said that when he performs mind-reading acts, he receives an immediate response from the audience, which helps him determine whether his reading is correct.
“With regards to the unknown what has happened with me is that when I am performing on stage, and I do mind reading to crack someone’s password or figure out what the person is thinking or if they are thinking about someone, I get instant feedback while performing on stage. The audience tells me what they were thinking and if I am right,” he told IANS.
Karan said the dynamics were very different on ‘The Traitors’, where contestants could not immediately know whether a particular move had worked in their favour.
“In ‘The Traitors’, I knew it’s a different game but there was no way for me to get that instant feedback to know if I am doing it right or if I am doing it wrong,” he said.
He added that the lack of applause or a visible reaction sometimes left the performer in him confused about whether he had made the right decision.
Munawar Faruqui added a humorous take during the conversation, joking that Karan wanted host Karan Johar to walk onto the set and praise him for his gameplay, leaving the panel in laughter.
The season features 21 contestants from entertainment, television, social media, food and other fields, including Munawar Faruqui, Mallika Sherawat, Shweta Tiwari, Rhea Chakraborty, Abhishek Malhan, Shalini Passi and Ranveer Brar.
The reality show revolves around trust, deception and strategic alliances, with contestants attempting to identify the hidden Traitors while avoiding elimination themselves. The season has featured confrontations, surprise eliminations and changing alliances, adding to the uncertainty of the competition.
