Actress Sanjeeda Shaikh has opened up about her brief appearance in Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, saying the film gave her an opportunity to portray an “unimaginable” character that was far removed from her real-life persona.
Sanjeeda shared a series of pictures from her appearance in the film on Instagram and thanked audiences for their warm response. She said that taking on challenging and unexpected characters is among the most enjoyable aspects of being an actor.
“As an actor the most enjoyable part of the job is doing characters that challenge or shock you. TOXIC allowed me to play an unimaginable role that feels very far from my reality and probably why I thoroughly enjoyed it,” she wrote.
Reflecting on the response to her short appearance, Sanjeeda said she had entered the project without expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the audience’s reaction.
“Going in with absolutely no expectations, I am pleasantly surprised by the heartwarming response to my short appearance in the film, a big big thank you to everyone for supporting me in my journey. I promise to keep taking up roles that will keep shocking everyone,” she added.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is a gangster drama starring Yash in a dual role, alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
The film follows Raya, a violent gangster and playboy who rises through the underworld before facing a downfall. Years later, he encounters his biological son Rumi, also known as Ticket, who seeks revenge after Raya abandoned him and his mother.
Sanjeeda made her television debut as Namrata Mathuria in Kyaa Hoga Nimmo Kaa, followed by her role as Ayesha Shergill in Kayamath. She later gained recognition for her performances in Ek Hasina Thi and Love Ka Hai Intezaar.
