Tara Sutaria’s South Indian debut in “Toxic” came with considerable expectations. She was given prominent space in the film’s promotional campaign, despite the presence of actresses such as Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth and Nayanthara.
Her prominence in the trailers and songs led many to believe that she had landed a substantial role opposite Yash, one of the biggest pan-Indian stars. Tara also went all out with promotions, seemingly keen to make a strong impression with her South Indian debut.
However, the situation changed after the film’s release. Tara Sutaria’s character has received little attention because her role turns out to be relatively minor.
Director Geetu Mohandas has given greater prominence to Kiara Advani and Rukmini Vasanth as the female characters paired with Yash, while Nayanthara plays his sister. Tara, meanwhile, appears mainly in one song and a couple of scenes.
As a result, the much-hyped South Indian debut has turned out to be a disappointing outing for Tara Sutaria. After the film’s release, she has barely featured in discussions surrounding “Toxic”.
Tara has a couple of Bollywood projects in hand and will now be looking to strengthen her position in Hindi cinema.
