Tata Intra V40 bi-fuel pickup launched, expands commercial vehicle portfolio

Tata Motors has launched the Intra V40 pickup truck, strengthening its presence in the alternate-fuel small commercial vehicle segment. The new pickup combines CNG and petrol bi-fuel technology with a payload capacity of 1,525 kg, targeting businesses engaged in high-load, last-mile transportation operations.

The Intra V40 is powered by a 1.2-litre bi-fuel engine that produces 58bhp and 106Nm of torque. It features a 110-litre CNG tank and a bi-fuel architecture that allows operators to switch between CNG and petrol.

Designed for cargo-intensive applications, the pickup comes with a 2,960mm (9.7ft) load body, enabling higher carrying capacity and improved earning potential for fleet operators and small businesses.

Built on Tata Motors’ Intra platform, the vehicle features a hydroformed chassis for enhanced structural strength and stability. The company says the pickup also offers a modern walk-through cabin, car-like driving dynamics and front disc brakes, aimed at improving driver comfort, safety and ease of operation during long working hours.

Commenting on the launch, Pinaki Haldar, Vice President and Business Head, Small Commercial Vehicle and Pickup Unit, Tata Motors, said the demand for alternate-fuel solutions in last-mile cargo transportation is growing as operators seek lower running costs and greater operational flexibility.

“The shift towards alternate fuels in last-mile cargo transport is accelerating. With the all-new Intra V40, we further strengthen our bi-fuel range and consolidate our leadership in alternate-fuel mobility, while our expanding electric portfolio supports a calibrated transition towards greener last-mile transportation,” Haldar said.

With the addition of the Intra V40, Tata Motors now offers one of the broadest alternate-fuel portfolios in the segment. Its bi-fuel range includes the Ace Pro Bi-fuel, Ace CNG 2.0, Intra V20 Gold and the new Intra V40, covering multiple payload categories.

The company’s electric commercial vehicle lineup comprises the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV 1000 and Intra EV Pickup, providing customers with a wide range of choices across fuel technologies and operational requirements.

The Intra V40 will also be supported by Tata Motors’ ownership ecosystem, including the Sampoorna Seva 2.0 service programme and Fleet Edge connected vehicle platform, which offers telematics, predictive maintenance alerts and real-time vehicle monitoring to help improve fleet efficiency and uptime.
