Cristiano Ronaldo Records Stunning Flick to Guide Al-Nassr to 2-1 Win Over Al-Taawoun

Cristiano Ronaldo recorded a stunning flick to guide Al-Nassr to a 2-1 win over Al-Taawoun on Friday in Saudi Pro League. Both teams locked horns on August 28, Friday, at the Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where the reigning champions had trailed to an 11th-minute Bassam Mohammed Al Hurayji goal.

However, they levelled the tie in first-half injury time via a Samu Costa strike.

But in the 50th minute, the ball bounced off a falling Sadio Mane, before Moahmed Simakan kicked it towards the goal where Ronaldo was positioned. The Portugal star then flicked the ball into the net with his heel to push up the score 2-1. Al-Nassr eventually won the game, recording their fourth straight win since the Saudi Pro League season kicked off earlier this month. Ronaldo celebrated the goal by trotting towards the middle of the pitch with his hands up. Notably, this marked Ronaldo’s second goal of the season for Al-Nassr. He scored his first goal during the Al Riyadh clash last week.

With his stunning flick on Friday, Ronaldo has now become Al-Nassr’s all-time leading scorer, with his goal tally at 104 in the Pro League. The Portuguese star has now surpassed Mohammed Ali Sahlawi’s previous best record. In addition, it has also taken him closer to his 1,000 career goals, as he now sits on 978. Notably, the 41-year-old was subbed off in the previous game with his side trailing 2-0 to Al Ettifaq.

Speaking after Friday night’s game, he said, ‘I’m very, very happy. It’s a great achievement, but it’s not just Cristiano’s achievement. I have to say thank you to my teammates, because without them, this wouldn’t have been possible.’ ‘But I’m also very happy for the fans,’ Ronaldo added. ‘They support me all the time, and I’m very proud of that. Thank you,’ he went on to say. Al Nassr sit at the top of the table with four victories.
