Reflecting on the controversy, Shilpa said she understands that people have formed strong opinions about her over the years. While some considered her brave, others viewed her decisions as reckless. According to the actress, leaving at the peak of its popularity was one of the most difficult decisions she has ever made. However, she believes it required courage to walk away from a successful project when she no longer felt comfortable with the conditions attached to it.
Shilpa claimed that the primary source of conflict was an exclusive contract that she was allegedly being pressured to sign. According to her, the agreement would have prevented her from working on other projects and restricted her ability to negotiate better compensation in the future. “At that time, the idea was basically to scare me. I was being asked to sign a contract that would stop me from working anywhere else. It was a complete bond designed to ensure that the actor remained under control and couldn’t negotiate for more money,” she said.

According to Shilpa, tensions escalated significantly after she refused to sign the contract. She alleged that the makers abruptly changed her shooting schedule and rushed through multiple episodes’ worth of work in a short period. She claimed that nearly ten episodes’ worth of shooting was completed within two days. Soon after, she was allegedly informed that she would not be required on set anymore, without receiving a clear explanation.
The actress said she felt the situation was designed to intimidate her into compliance.
Shilpa further alleged that she was directly threatened when she continued refusing to sign the exclusive agreement. According to her, she was told that if she did not agree to the contract, she could leave the show.
She recalled being shocked by the ultimatum and deciding to walk away instead of accepting the terms.
Shilpa Shinde accepts she filed false complaint
“At that time, I filed a s*xual harassment complaint against my producer because I felt I had no other option left,” she revealed. Shilpa admitted that she believed all professional avenues had been closed to her and that filing the complaint seemed like the only way to escape the situation. She also acknowledged that she understood the legal process because of her law background.
‘Today, I want to say that the allegations I made were not true. I am admitting this for the first time,” she said.
The actress explained that the dispute was eventually settled between both parties. As part of the resolution, she received her pending dues, and an understanding was reached that neither side would discuss the matter publicly.
More than ten years later, however, Shilpa says she finally feels comfortable talking about what happened.
Interestingly, despite the bitter fallout, the actress revealed that her relationship with the producers eventually improved. She even worked with them again after the dispute was resolved.
