New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has declared his support for Premier League club Manchester City, highlighting his appreciation for the club’s dynamic play style.
Speaking to JioStar, the Kiwi star shared how closely he has followed the team’s performances.
“I’m a guy. I’ve followed them for a while. I like the way they play and the style of football they bring. Watching them is always exciting, and I enjoy seeing how they control games,” Ravindra told JioHotstar.
Ravindra recounted how an invitation to the Etihad Stadium sealed his passion for the club during a Premier League fixture against Tottenham.
“I’ve had two incredible football experiences. One of them made me a Manchester City fan. They hosted me at the Etihad (Stadium) for the first Premier League game of last season against Tottenham. We didn’t win, but it was still a great day,” he added.

Beyond his trips to Manchester, the all-rounder highlighted watching international football in North America as another personal milestone, recalling a high-stakes encounter in Dallas.
“More recently, I went to the Round of 16 match between Spain and Portugal in Dallas. That was one of the best days of my life. It might have been Ronaldo’s last international game, which was a bit sad, but it was special to be there,” he said.
When asked to select an international cricketer who could transition to professional football, Ravindra backed England all-rounder Chris Woakes to excel in defence.
“I’d say Chris Woakes. He would make a very solid centre-back. He’s good on the ball, comfortable under pressure, and reads the game well. I think he has the skills to play that role,” Ravindra said.
Meanwhile, Manchester City kicked off their domestic campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against AFC Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, with late strikes from Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol handing manager Enzo Maresca a winning start to his Premier League tenure.
