Sonal Dinusha once again emerged as Sri Lanka’s biggest batting positive against India, producing a courageous century in the second innings of the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
The left-handed all-rounder scored 103 off 162 balls in the first innings, hitting eight fours and three sixes, as Sri Lanka were eventually bowled out for 290 in reply to India’s imposing 503/9 declared. After being put to bat again by India, the Lankans were eyeing a defeat, but Dinusha’s knock has pulled them out of a whitewash.
And in the second innings, he has emerged as the main resistance for Sri Lanka again, as the island nation is edging towards forcing a draw. In the 2nd innings under immense pressure on Day 5, Dinusha produced yet another excellent century to steer his team away from danger.
He is currently batting on 101 off 202 balls, and the Lankans have a lead of 174 runs in the final hours of the second Test in Colombo. With that, the 25-year-old batter has joined an elite list as well.
